About Prepped for Seminary

Prepped for Seminary makes it possible for students to learn at the seminary level without the seminary price. Our programs allow individuals to take a short series of seminary level courses designed by experts in Biblical, theological, and ministry studies. Each program provides concentrated learning in specific areas of study normally included in a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree. Prepped provides students with the opportunity to learn, to have their learning verified, and/or to convert their learning to credit in Kairos University’s Master of Divinity or Master of Arts programs.

What is Prepped for Seminary?
Prepped for Seminary is a discipleship-oriented educational initiative designed to provide individuals with opportunities to study at the seminary level without the cost of attending an accredited institution. Prepped also provides opportunities for participants to convert their learning to credit via our partnership with Kairos University. Through a mix of academic and practical content, we offer foundational knowledge in theology, biblical studies, church history, and ministry.
Who is Prepped for Seminary for?
Our program is tailored for anyone interested in deepening their theological understanding—whether you’re preparing for seminary, already active in ministry, or simply looking to grow in your personal faith. We welcome learners of all backgrounds and educational levels.
What topics does the program cover?
Prepped for Seminary covers topics commonly found in a Master of Divinity degree including, but not necessarily limited to biblical studies, theological studies, church history, ministry skills and practices, and personal spiritual formation. Our programs are aligned with the learning outcomes of Kairos University’s Master of Divinity to allow for the conversion of learning to credit.
How is the program delivered?
The program is offered through a combination of easily accessible media including podcasts, YouTube videos, and online blog posts and articles. All of this content provides accessible scholarship on biblical, theological, and practical topics. This content is organized in our online learning management system. We will also offer opportunities for live instruction via Zoom and, in the near future, in-person.
Is there a cost to participate?
While some of our content, like certain podcast episodes, videos, and online articles, is freely available, access to structured learning opportunities and conversion of learning to credit require the purchase of a membership plan. The membership includes access to exclusive content, structured courses, and live Q&A sessions with experts. Pricing details can be found on our website.
Is Prepped for Seminary accredited?
No. Prepped for Seminary is not an accredited institution. We partner with Kairos University, which holds regional accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission and a specialty accreditation with the Association of Theological Schools.
What credentials are available via Prepped for Seminary?
Prepped for Seminary offers the following non-accredited credentials:
  • Certificate of Completion - The certificate of completion does not involve any assessment of student work. It is granted based on student self-report and the completion of the courses in a given program.
Certified Prepped Credential - This non-accredited credential requires the completion of assignments that are then graded to ensure student learning. In addition, through our partnership with Kairos University, Prepped for Seminary offers conversion of learning to credit. Prepped participants may demonstrate that they have met specific learning outcomes. That learning will be converted to seminary credit with Kairos University. (Note: requires admission to Kairos University)

How does Prepped for Seminary differ from traditional seminary?
Traditional seminaries bundle learning with credit. This “bundling” generally requires an increased cost. Prepped unbundles learning from credit, thereby providing a lower-cost option for those seeking to study at the seminary level without paying the seminary costs.
Are there any prerequisites to join the program?
No prerequisites are required. We design our material to be accessible to beginners, though we also include advanced content for those with some theological background.

How can I convert my learning to credit?
Having completed the courses in a PREPPED certificate, you may want to convert your learning to credit. To do so, you will first need to apply to Kairos Seminary (https://sfseminary.formstack.com/forms/kairos_application_form). Once admitted, you will complete assignments that will allow a Kairos Faculty member to assess your learning. The amount of credit received will be dependent on that assessment.
